Brief Overview
Vitamin B5 or pantothenic acid is the only biologically active form and naturally occurring. Pantothenic acid comprises coenzyme A which plays role in energy metabolism. Coenzyme A also partakes in the synthesis of essential fatty acids, carbohydrates, cholesterol, porphyrins, and the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. Pantothenic acid in the form of D-Calcium Pantothenate Ca[C9H16NO5]2 is an enhancement of vitamin supplementation for almost all animal species’ diets.
Manufacturing Process
A process for producing calcium D-pantothenate, which comprises bringing a solution containing D-pantothenic acid directly produced by microbial fermentation into contact with activated carbon to adsorb the D-pantothenic acid to the activated carbon, eluting the D-pantothenic acid with a hydrophilic organic solvent, neutralizing the eluate with an alkali agent containing calcium to precipitate calcium D-pantothenate, and collecting the calcium D-pantothenate.
Animal Feed Industry
In the industry, the product is used to be raw feed/premix material as effective source of pantothenic acid (Vit. B5). The product is served as micronutrients for animal in charge of producing blood cells and converting fats, carbohydrates, and proteins into energy. Thus it helps to treat vitamin deficiency in animal
